Post Hole Diggers

For being two days into spring break, I’ve been keeping myself pretty busy. I’ve gotten four (well, four-ish) out of five pages pencilled for that Imaginary Friends comic. I helped build a fence at my sister’s house (no, I’m not great with power tools, but I’m AWESOME with Post Hole Diggers). I still have some Head Drawing homework to get started (hopefully Thursday, after I finish off these Imaginary Friends pages) and a short story to start writing (hopefully sometime between now and this weekend). Plus, I have a job interview on Thursday as well.

::whew::

Okay, not really much of a break, but I’m nothing if not productive.

I’ve started going to these workshops on Tuesdays after class to fit in a little extra figure drawing. I originally started going to improve my nupastel work, but I’ve been wanting to do some charcoal work these last few sessions. Either way, this is a product of one of those workshops.

Drawing on toned paper is nice because the paper quality is pretty high, but I have a hard time rendering the lights (which you have to add later with a white pencil). It takes me a bit of work for the lights to start looking good, and they were especially tough on this model being a little hairy. I think the face turned out okay, but I wish I had a bit more time for the body. Ah well.

One more special (ahem) “treat” for people who actually wade through all this junk I write. I’m sure most the people who read this blog actually know me, so this would be pretty obvious to them. But, for the people who don’t know me, drawing is not my only passion. See, for some reason, I harbor this delusion that I’m also good at playing the guitar and singing… It’s an annoying and often distracting practice that I just absolutely love. Well, either way… I promised complete honesty when in this blog, no matter how embarrassing… And what could be more embarrassing than posting my ill attempts at music for all the world to see? So, here you are…
